What we do at Camp Leo + ConnecT1D makes an impact not just at camp but throughout a participant’s entire life. As a volunteer your impact changes lives.

If you are interested in volunteering at Summer Camp, or for any other Camp Leo + ConnecT1D programs, please contact us at programs@T1United.org for more information. There are lots of ways to get involved and make a difference in the lives of those impacted by Type 1 diabetes.

Why we volunteer:

  • It is really fun!
  • We know the impact we make in the time we spend with campers will last a lifetime. Both for the campers and for us.
  • The opportunity to experience a hands-on learning approach to diabetes management and exposure to the latest diabetes technology
  • Our volunteer community is incredible, a place where strangers become friends and friends become family.
  • Volunteering at camp provides real world experience, expanding skills in communitcation, problem solving, leadership and a chance to try new skills.
Camp Leo unexpectedly changed my life and is a part of improving the lives of hundreds of children every summer. I’m not sure who was helping who, but hanging out with my cabin of guys reminded me how different life is at that age and I recognized there was an opportunity to make a difference.
— Stephen Goldberg, Camp Counselor
Amazing... simply amazing!!! Everytime I am here I am so inspired by my campers, the med staff and the volunteers. And especially those who make camp what it is... it is family!
— Therese Alden, Medical Staff
